Dr Dewan Muhammad Nuruzzaman

Dr. Dewan Muhammad Nuruzzaman is currently working as a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering and Technology (CEAT), International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT).He possesses excellent track record having over 25 years of teaching, research and administrative/management experiences at highest level. He obtained Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering with First Class from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) (Former name, Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Rajshahi) in 1991.Then, he started the teaching/lecturing career at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) (Former name, Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Dhaka). After that, he joined as a Research Assistant (RA) with the European Commission (EC) Project during 1995-1996 and researched on “Analyses on the Design Parameters of a High Speed Journal Bearingunder Different Operating Conditions”. He further continued his research and later, he was awarded Master of Science (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering from University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 1999. In 2002, he joined as a Japanese Government Research Scholar and worked on Engineering Tribology/Surface Engineering / Materials Tribology and achieved a major breakthrough in the areas of “Development of WC Cermet Coating Technology on Different Steel Substrates for Engineering Applications” and was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from Saga University, Japan in 2005.

Dr. Dewan Nuruzzaman served as a Professor (December 2008-December 2012) and Dean (June 2009-June 2011) of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, DUET. Later, he was appointed as a Visiting Professor (September 2012-December 2013) at Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering, University Malaysia Pahang (UMP). He also served as an Associate Professor (December 2013-June 2020) at the Manufacturing Engineering Program, Faculty of Manufacturing & Mechatronic Engineering Technology,University Malaysia Pahang.

During his academic / professional career, he successfully completed quite a number of Research Projects as Principal Investigator (PI). He has Supervised and Co-Supervised a number of Postgraduate Research Students.As an Expert Member of his areas, he examined quite a number of Postgraduate Theses (PhD / Master level). Moreover, as an Expert Member / External Member he evaluated a number of Projects of Governmental and Non-Governmental Industries / Organizations.

Currently, his research interests include Advanced Materials, Polymer and Composites, Metal Matrix Composites, Engineering Tribology, Surface Engineering, Advanced Design of Machinery and Machine Elements, Fluid Film Lubrication, Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication,Erosion of Composite Materials, Applications of Coatings Technology,Thermal Chemical Vapor Deposition, Thermal Oxidation, Thermal Evaporation etc. During his academic / professional career, he has authored or co-authored over 120 scientific publications in reputed International Journals (Web of Science/SCOPUS) including the Book Chapters / Conference Proceedings. Currently, he is working as Editorial Board Member (EBM) and Reviewer of a number of reputed International Journals.
