Dr. A. K. M. Foysal Ahmed has been awarded his Ph.D. in Industrial and Information Systems Engineering from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), Yongin, South Korea in 2018.

He achieved his MSc in Energy Studies in 2013 from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) after finishing his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila (UET, Taxila), Rawalpindi, Pakistan in 2011. Before joining here as full-time faculty in IUBAT in 2018 as Assistant Professor, he held the position of Lecturer (Mechanical Engineering) in Eastern University, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

He worked for 3 years and 6 months as a Teaching and Research Assistant in Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) where he did active teaching for 7 semesters in undergraduate school and 2 semesters in graduate school. Besides these, he also mentored undergraduate final year students for performing research-based projects.

He published a number of articles in international peer-reviewed journals. He was involved in research projects on Modeling of the cryogenic pressure vessel to reduce the evaporation rate of liquid nitrogen, Designing drier to dry the Residual Domestic Fuel to feed into the kiln at Fauji Cement Company Ltd., Palletizing heterogeneous boxes with a robotic arm, handling transportation problems in logistics and so on.

He taught various subjects such as Logistics, Thermodynamics, Statics, Dynamics, Artificial Intelligence, Metaheuristic Technologies, Mechanical Measurement and Quality Control, Industrial Management, Engineering Drawing, etc.

Notably, he secured three prestigious government scholarships e.g. 75 Scholarships to Bangladeshi Students under President’s Directive-2007 funded by Pakistan Education Ministry, Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarship for Foreign Students funded by Brunei Education Ministry and 2013 Korean Government Scholarship Program funded by National Institute for International Students, South Korea. His fields of interest are system design, optimization, metaheuristic algorithms, transportation problems, etc.
